| [Saturday] October 11th 5pm Our Berries are featured on CSI: New York! I always love interview requests, and due to the unusual nature of our products the interviews are always fun for both parties. Supplying our tablets to corporate events, fundraisers, parties and more is also awesome because it gives a chance for our company's name to be spread and also for some 'serious business types' to have a little gustatory fun. We have been featured on some small news programs, and i've seen miracle fruit mentioned on CNN, FOX and the WSJ but never in Hollywood.. until now. Recently, I was contacted by CSI: New York for some fresh miracle berries as a prop for a particular scene. Have miracle berries gone mainstream? Maybe not, but this is still extremely interesting. I am excited to see the context they will be used in, and hopefully they aren't the murder weapon! | [Wednesday] September 1st 8am Real Miracle Berries now Available! We are pleased to announce that we now offer the entire range of miracle fruit products on the market. We now have access to tons of raw miracle fruit that can be overnighted to any place inside the USA. Now, the truth is that the tablets are more potent, don't spoil and generally better than the berry in my humble opinion. However, I can understand how some people want to try the actual raw miracle berry because there is something a little different about having it in it's natural form. PS the best way to extract the active ingredient from the actual berry is by chewing up the casing around the seed, this is where the miraculin is concentrated. |
| [Wednesday] August 27th 5pm Growing and caring for your Miracle Fruit plant I have been getting e-mails from many browsing the site wondering how to take care of their miracle fruit plant. Although we include the instructions for our customers, I decided why not put them online for everyone's benefit. When it comes to light it is best to keep it indoors, although if you happen to live in a hot humid place like florida, you may be able to keep it outside. 60F+ is best. It should be grown in a environment with 50%+ humidity, optimally. You can achieve this artificially by covering the plant in plastic. Watering is very important. Keeping the plant moist, especially in a hot sun, is a must. One of the most common questions is "What kind of fertilizer should I use?" Acidic soil is a must for this plant. It thrives on it! I have heard from various sources that using a 1:1 ratio of peat moss and perlite yields good results. Occasional application of a fertilizer may be used. If you have pale leaves, this means there is not enough acid (pH too high!) |
| [Thursday] July 31st 6pm The Production Process I am guessing there are a few people who wonder how miracle fruit is made from a berry, into a nice convenient tab for you to enjoy. I can offer up some information about the process, as well as some basics about the glycoprotein miraculin Our grower in Taiwan maintains large indoor areas where the miracle fruit plant is grown in optimum conditions for healthy growth. Once the berries are harvested, they are mechanically separated from the seed which is discarded. They are then mashed up and sorted to remove any plant matter. Next, they are freeze dried and mixed with a small amount of corn starch to ensure it all sticks together. They are now ready to be hygenically packaged and shipped to us, and then to you with a 1 year shelf life. The previous problems that horticulturists had with getting the active ingredient from miracle fruit is it's unstability. It loses it's effect very quickly when heated, and should always be stored below 50F. The glycoprotein, named miraculin binds to sour receptors on your tongue for about 30 minutes. This is what causes the amazing effect of miracle fruit, which effects a wide variety of food. |

We are now caught up on all orders, and back to a regular 1-2 day processing time. Another good note-- our newest shipment of miracle fruit tabs are super fresh. I mean they literally just mashed up the raw, potent fruit and processed the tabs within the last month! Oh right, we also now sell miracle fruit plants! Many of our customers have been asking about getting their hands on some raw berries, and now is your chance while they are in stock. |
| [Saturday] July 12th 7pm Big Happenings As the next shipment of miracle fruit tablets arrives, we are all ramping up for an extremely busy start of the week. All backlogged orders should be processed by wednesday latest. Not only are we receiving another fresh shipment of tabs, but we will also soon offer miracle fruit plants straight from the nursery. As much as I love the portability and ease of use of the tabs, I think a lot of people want a plant that you can not only grow, but also eat. Anyway, look out for big changes to the site coming in just a few days. Also, look forward to regular 1-2 day processing times by the end of the week. |
| [Thursday] July 10th 6pm Miracle Fruit Recipes I am beginning to find more and more places that are starting to treat the miracle fruit as it should be-- a fruit (or tablet) that can be enjoyed at any meal, for a variety of reasons. I googled around for a bit and found some recipes and quasi-scientific data that may be interesting for those who like to experiment. I know everyone will appreciate this one. It is a miracle fruit cocktail. This is a nice example drink that will shows how you can mix new drinks after eating a miracle fruit tab. The combinations are endless, and we are always looking for good user submitted cocktails and recipes! |
| [Wednesday] July 8th 12am Unlikely Pairings Everybody knows about what to try after miracle fruit: lemons, limes, grapefruits etc., Any fruit will turn into candy. But what about some unlikely things? I can't imagine the first person to think about trying it, but pure vinegar (after a miracle berry) tastes very sweet. Cheap beer tastes like diet soda. A drop of honey spread on any food makes it significantly sweeter, without added calories. Fine Wine tastes like Boone's Farm. Kamikaze and SoCo-Lime shots are (more) enjoyable! Sour Patch Kids and any sour candy simply taste sweet. Salads, especially tomatoes, become sweeter in general without dressing. Finally Cottage Cheese mixed with fruit tastes like cake filling. It is a comprehensive history, analysis, and safety review of the miracle fruit. It touches on early attempts at spreading it, as well as scientific endeavors to isolate the active glycoprotein, miraculin (the ingredient in our tabs!)
